DTCalgary Photowalk ~ November 24

Another great and successful Photowalk on Saturday November 24!!  I had a totally of 11 people which so made the walk to be great fun!!!  Almost all of the walkers were from the Calgary Camera Club which is cool I think.  So now I need to get some other ideas for places to do photowalks, so if you have any suggestions let me know and I will see what I can come up with.

We had actually pretty good weather, it was cool but not to any great extreme which is good.  I look forward to heading out again with all of these folks, we had several different levels of experience but I think we all learned from one another.

Didn't there was any of these left!!

Great shadows and patterns to be found at Olympic Plaza.

Went down a new street and found a great back alley!!

Old and New!!

Cool display in ScotiaCentre, after lunch!!

Lucky Man ... Millions Bucks is nothing to sneeze at!!

What a Character, this guy was!!

Twigs, never fails to have a great display out front of their store.

Awesome reflections!!

Making Christmas Cards ~ Nov 21

I have been working on some ideas for Christmas Cards, wanted a bit of a personal touch for the cards I am going to give out this year.  Usually I want until the last possible second to do so and they never make it but this year I started early.

I have enjoyed making this cards and I hope the people I give them to will like them as well.

My mother is also wanting a few cards made as well, she had this idea last year but as always either of us were fast enough, LoL :)

It is a very simple set up in my living room to shoot this photos.  To shoot with the white background, I picked up some snow and put a few sprinkles to add a little twinkle to the snow.

I didnt shoot a set up shot for the black background but it was against the same cough with a small light tree to shoot against to give the image a bit of a glow.

Some of these images I am also selling:  http://ksphotographyca.blogspot.ca/p/price-list-for-prints.html  Will be adding more in the next few days.

Tuesday's Night Shoot

Last Tuesday, I went out to do a little night photography with a few girls from the Calgary Camera Club and I was really happy with the results of the little adventure.  I don't seem to do alot of night photography but when I do and always love what I get.  We all decided to head up to Crescent Heights Hill to shoot the DownTown Core which light up beautifully for us!!

Made it down just before sunset but not quite early enough to catch all of the pretty colors of sunset.  So next need to be there just a little bit before hand.

I decided to dig out my wide angle lens, haven't played with it much lately and with the curves of the river and the road below and I thought it would be a great opportunity to use it!!

Also decided to try a couple of HDR, still need to do some learning on how to process these images ... I think they could be quite fun, I really like the concept, its getting the concept into reality!!

The blue skies of the day slowly crept into the deep dark blue skies of evening, all the lights of the downtown came on and the downtown core started to glow.

Soon all the Lights of Downtown bright and showing their beauty!!

And so were the lights along the river!!

The Peace Bridge was all a glow that evening as well, and with the reflections, how could you miss such a beautiful evening.

Busy Week!!

Well, I am going to do a 3 in 1 blog this morning to try and catch you all up!! Might be easier said than done but here it goes :)

I was lucky enough to meet up and have coffee with a new friend, Lynn, also a fellow photographer here in Calgary.  We were trying to get our schedules figured out to do a little night photography and I think we were some what successful.  Looking forward to our outing this evening to shoot DT Calgary lights!! But after our coffee, we decided to go for a bit of a walk through Inglewood, such a great place to photograph.  I did try to convince Lynn to go in to my favorite camera, Robinsons Cameras on 9th Ave ... No such luck.  Which is probably a good thing!! LoL

Calgary received another blast of winter weather this passed week!!  Snow, blowing snow, cold and more cold and by the time it was all said and down, we ended up with about 15-20cm of snow!!  I have now decided that cutting grass is definitely more applying than shoveling snow.  So someone remember me of that next summer when I am complaining about cutting the grass, haha

But I can say that snow can really make for some very pretty photos.

This past weekend, I was at another Craft/Artisan Sale at Fort Calgary which I was quite pleased with.  I am happy I have started this little adventure, have been thinking about it for a few years but never had the courage to do so.  But now I am very happy I decided to take the jump and go for it, never know where things may lead.  I was successful again this time and looking forward the next sale at Beddington Coop on Friday, November 23 from 2-6pm

The old Fort Calgary building makes for a very interesting background for this fair and I look forward to going her again next year.

Well, that is my couple of weeks in a nut shell, life has been busy but I have been enjoying every minute.

Saturday's Craft Sale Video

On of the exciting things that did happen at the craft sale on Saturday was that some of my photos were shown on CBC News at 11:30pm.  Now, it is only a quick clip but I was still rather excited about it and thought it was rather cool.

At this time, you can view this clip at CBC:  November 3, 2012

The Fog and The Frost

Last week Calgary was just covered with Fog and Frost almost everyday!!  It made for some awesome photos last week, which I thought I would share with all of you.  I didn't venture very far from my house to capture some great images, everything was just covered with frost.

Because the cold winter weather came rather fast this year, many of the leaves hadn't fallen yet let alone changed color yet. Makes for some pretty images.  However, some Calgarian could argue that fact LoL

I love these red berries, when it is cold and grey out at least there is a bit of color, to cheer one up.

First Craft Sale of the Season!!

Well, this year I decided to try a few craft sales just to see how things would goes. I was a little worried because I wasn't too sure if I would be successful but I am quite happy with the results.  Many great compliments from people coming through on my photos as well as some suggestions which I will seriously  keep in mind.  The sale had about 30 tables which I think is a nice size, you don't get lost among the people coming in and everyones tables were very visible.

This craft sale was organized through the Relay for Life Group and I think they did a great job!!

And would you believe it!!  Santa was at the craft sale too!!!  I was going to ask him for a very camera related items but thought better of it!!! LoL :)

This group will be holding another craft fair on the weekend of November 23 and 24 at Highland Park Community Centre.  Check it out if you have a minute :)

A video Clip will be added to this entry in the next day or so.
