The Stalking of the Chickadees at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary - February 4

Went out with a new found friend to see what we could see at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary a couple of weeks again.  And had the most amazing time!!!

When we first entered the park, there are a group of chickadees right there and waiting to see what we were up too!!  Curious little creatives, but so sweet!!  And of course at first, we didn't have anything to feed them, partly because you are really not suppose to.

But the further we went into the park, the guiltier they made us feel.  Because I am pretty sure they followed us all the way through the park, Stalking Us!!  "Hey, Ladies, We know you have Something!!!"

So we give in!!

City & Mountain Pano - February 3rd

Calgarians are very lucky to be so close to the mountains.  From just about anywhere in the City, you are very lucky to have some great views of the Great Canadian Rockies.  So a few weeks ago I decided that I would take a few shots which turned into a pano of both the mountains and Downtown Calgary.  I enjoy doing such images, also interesting to see what all might develop.

You can check out the bigger version of this image at the following link along with a few other panos have I created.

Its A ... Its A ... Squirrel!! - February 10th

Well, it was one of those great days!!  Extremely pretty evening light just before sunset, you know that golden hour!!  Well, that golden hour is also when all the silly wonderful little creatures come for supper.  And well, did Mr. Squirrel find a great Big treat when he showed up that afternoon.

He did try very hard to escape with his new found treasure but he just didnt make it very far, much to big to run and jump with.  So ended up sitting for several minutes on the opposite fence nibbling away!!

Nibble, Nibble!!!

Nibble!!  Hey, what ... you ... nibble ... looking at!!  Nibble, Nibble!!

What!! What!!  Is that a Cat!!!  Well, he aint gettin my piece of colorful bread!!  The Lady put it out for me not You!!  Nibble Nibble!!!

Dam!! I dropped it again!!

And such the adventures of our dear little noisy, busy, pushy, begging little Mr. Squirrel.

Bow River Walk

February 1, 2013

What a beautiful beginning to February, the sun was shining, and oh so warm.  Made one think of spring, however, this is Calgary and we all know better than that.  But it doesn't hurt to dream just a tiny bit!!

Went for a bit of a photowalk through Pearce Estates/Livingston Fish Hatchery down along the Bow River Trail Walk and back again!!  It was a good walk, and very enjoyable with to really good friends.

It was a real birdie kinda of day, loads of sparrows who were talking up a storm, woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, shrike, finches, and some redpoles.

This is the Northern Shrike, and he was so far away, but quite happy with my 70-300mm, it did a pretty good job :)

Black Capped Chickadee, love these little guys so sweet and fun to watch!!

Downy Woodpecker ... he was fun to watch too!!  Very very busy little birds!!!

There were some great spots for cityscape images as well, the Bow Building can sure been seen from everywhere!!

Also some great reflections in the open ice of the Bow River.

I didn't realize how close we were going to be to the train bridge unfortunately didnt have the right lens .. but now that I know how to get to it, I will be back!!! :)

No train, this time but maybe next time around.

On the way back into the park, we come across two open ponds, where 3 little Mallard ducks were hanging out.

Lady Mallard here I believe was supervising the boys and making sure they were good!! LoL

Look at the beautiful colors in his head feathers, you can't seen it now but there is purple in the feathers as well.

There are some some man made ponds and they both had some great reflections in the water.  I look forward to heading back up there again!!
