Bow River Walk

February 1, 2013

What a beautiful beginning to February, the sun was shining, and oh so warm.  Made one think of spring, however, this is Calgary and we all know better than that.  But it doesn't hurt to dream just a tiny bit!!

Went for a bit of a photowalk through Pearce Estates/Livingston Fish Hatchery down along the Bow River Trail Walk and back again!!  It was a good walk, and very enjoyable with to really good friends.

It was a real birdie kinda of day, loads of sparrows who were talking up a storm, woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, shrike, finches, and some redpoles.

This is the Northern Shrike, and he was so far away, but quite happy with my 70-300mm, it did a pretty good job :)

Black Capped Chickadee, love these little guys so sweet and fun to watch!!

Downy Woodpecker ... he was fun to watch too!!  Very very busy little birds!!!

There were some great spots for cityscape images as well, the Bow Building can sure been seen from everywhere!!

Also some great reflections in the open ice of the Bow River.

I didn't realize how close we were going to be to the train bridge unfortunately didnt have the right lens .. but now that I know how to get to it, I will be back!!! :)

No train, this time but maybe next time around.

On the way back into the park, we come across two open ponds, where 3 little Mallard ducks were hanging out.

Lady Mallard here I believe was supervising the boys and making sure they were good!! LoL

Look at the beautiful colors in his head feathers, you can't seen it now but there is purple in the feathers as well.

There are some some man made ponds and they both had some great reflections in the water.  I look forward to heading back up there again!!
