365 ~ Day 25 ~ Red Tulle

Ok, Experiment again this evening ... I picked up red, teal and rose tulle to how things would look through these colors.  Rather like the red tulle ... gives an oldish look to the images.  Will be trying some different ideas ... Always have to try something creative every once in a while.  Get out of the everyday rut!!

One layer of Red Tulle.

When the Earth Warms!!

The naked earth is warm with spring,
and with green grass and bursting trees.
Leans to the sun's kiss glorying and quivers
in the sunny breeze.

365 ~ Day 23 ~ Just Hangin'

These 2, parent and child, I think .. seem to really like hangin' out on the fence.  Which I don't mind until about 630a in the morning, when they decide that the whole neighbourhood needs to be up as well.  So 2 crows .. going cheap .. you just have to catch them!! LoL

For Whom the Bell Tolls

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

365 ~ Day 21 ~ CityScape Pano

Well, I forgot entirely yesterday (Monday) ... was a busy day and not a 100%.  But this coming image is new I just haven't had a chance to process it yet.

I did this pano up last week from Maxwell Train station.

Calgary has a great cityscape I think, can be very pretty at sunrise and set.

365 ~ Day 14 ~ Grass and Light

Well, today I am struggling with coming up with an idea of what to shoot.  But when I went out to look and see what I could come up with I didn't get any further than my front yard.  I love the light at this time of day ... not quite the golden hour so its not to mellow of a light.  But it coming through the trees can soften the light some and then coming through the blades of grass makes it kinda neat!!

July Photo Challenge ~ July 20

This was interesting ... there can be a very fine line between Pattern and Texture.  I love these and I think really want one!!!

365 ~ Day 13 ~ RIP Rollerland

Well, it is official Rollerland is now gone ... On to new and bigger things!!  It is quite strange, that building has been there since I moved to Calgary in 1979.  I use to go skating there and walked by the place more times than I can remember.

365 ~ Day 12 ~ Texaco

365 ~ Day 11 ~ Documentary

This is a Documentary style photo this evening ... Calgary has had some major wind today and it has done a bit of damage on the trees here.  And the evidence is all over the street!!

July Photo Challenge ~ July 17

Ok, to confess ... this was taken today (07-21) but are to post as if it was still July 17th!!  LoL  Sometimes I don't have the time or a good idea to post a photo.

Today, you get a little history lesson on Calgary.

Stephen Avenue is a superb illustration of the central role that retail streets have played and continue to play in the Canadian Urban Experience.  As a well-preserved commercial street, the avenue bears eloquent witness to the emergence of the modern retail sector in Canada from 1880 to 1930.  With the coming of the railway, Prairie cities grew at an unprecedented rate, and their gridiron urban plans reflected a new functional pattern; financial and commercial sectors located near the train station, surrounded by residential areas while factories were farther away.  Elegant illustrations of Calgary’s sandstone era, the buildings of Stephen Avenue are handsome representatives of the architecture of their time, featuring Victorian, Art Deco and Beaux-Arts Elements.

365 - Day 9 ~ Mural on the Side of Rollerland!!

Very soon this will be gone :(  I am quite sad about this.  This mural on the side of Rollerland has been there forever, well since I attended Ernest Morrow Junior High ... Yesterday, right!!  I can't remember if it was kids from the high schools that did the mural or if it was a collaboration between all the schools in the area.

I spend many weekends at Rollerland, picking myself up off the floor LoL.  I think that is why my knees and waists now hurt!!  But it was fun and the thing to do!!

The building will be gone very soon, I believe on Friday but it is going to for a good reason ... a seniors facility ... Maybe that is where I will end up ... Oh knows ... now how funny is that!!! LOL!!
