(on loan to the museum by Jerry Barthel)
Jerry restored this Jeep as a tribute to the Canadians who liberated his home country of Holland in 1945. As a child, Jerry experienced the horrors of war for five years until the Canadians in their Jeeps rolled into his city. The Jeep became a symbol of freedom for that child.
It has been nicknamed “The Freedom Wagon” for what it stands for in the heart of a Dutch-Canadian who has valued freedom ever since it was so rudely taken away.
I thought this was quite an awesome project and a wonderful thing to share. Things must be saved and shared so that it will be remembered!!
